Kansas City, Missouri, October 4, 2019 — mySidewalk is excited to announce that Andel Koester has joined our team as a City Performance Expert in Residence! As an experienced partner to cities, Andel is working with mySidewalk to help develop our City Performance solutions and further our mission to empower progress in cities.
Andel Koester has built a career using data, technology, and strategic communications to drive impact across the public, non-profit, and private sectors. She most recently launched and led the impact evaluation and data strategy for What Works Cities, a Bloomberg Philanthropies initiative, as Associate Director of Impact & Evaluation (and author of this recent guide for cities on connecting data to results).
She previously managed the Smarter Cities Challenge, a signature IBM philanthropic program, and IBM’s City Forward, receiving awards from the US Department of Housing & Urban Development and USDA, the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy, and a Webby.
Andel has previously worked with Personal Democracy Forum, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Goldman Sachs "10,000 Women" initiative, Obama for America, and the Pfizer Foundation, among others. She has a Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, a B.A. from Emory University, and was a Coro Fellow in Public Affairs in New York.
